Post 3: My Dream Job

I wondered forever "What kind of job would I like to have?". My answer was always "I would like to work  in the health area". When I studied biotechnology I didn't find work in the health area, so I preferred to study again but Chemistry and Pharmacy.

At present, I believe that I would like to work in the Clinical Area or Quality Assessment (as plan b). Anything of the two alternatives is fine with me.

In the Clinical Area I would like to study clinical cases of patients, and analyze their therapy. Since the clinical pharmacist manages the patient's medication therapy with other healthcare professionals. Also it develops and promotes the rational and appropriate use of medicinal products by applying principles of pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutics, through clinical and assistance intervention in patient care.

On the other hand, in Quality Assessment the pharmacist is responsible for assurance to ensuring that the medication being manufactured will provide the desired effect to the patient. Quality assurance also guarantees that there are no contaminants present and that the medications will meet quality requirements and all relevant regulations.

In the clinical area it is necessary to make an internship at the hospital for six months. Another alternative is to do a master's degree after obtaining a pharmacist degree. The Universidad de Chile has a degree program "Professional Specialist in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Care", and I would like to register in the future.

Furthermore, if I wanted to work in quality assessment, I would need to conduct my professional practice or thesis at a pharmacist company for I would in wish obtain experience.

The salary of the pharmacist is between 800.000 and 1.000.000 pesos, but I don’t know the exact amount.
