Post 5: Changes to my Study Programme

I have studied for two years at the university (without counting the five years that I was at another university) I can tell that I think the curriculum is good, but the teaching methods are not very ok because most of the teachers are not educators, they haven't studied pedagogy or had a diploma course, the majority of the teachers are Ph.D. so they don't explain with the program, they are messy. Regarding technology, some teachers don’t know how to use the projector or don’t receive training.

On the other hand, the workload is heavy, sometimes the teachers send homework and date tests in the same week, which generates stress for me.

I believe that the length of the studies is very long, but it is understandable because my degree belongs in the health area in the main years the university would add more pharmacy courses and reduce the common plan.

The faculty facilities have improved enough but is necessary to repair the infrastructure. The rooms are very small, and in some subjects are too many students (around 240). Secondly, to improve teaching they could divide the students of the class.

The duty for the degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy is very expensive and has increased in value in the last four years.

Finally, regarding the degree, clinical fields are missing, for example participating in individual pharmaceutical visits, reviewing and analyzing patient information and clinical record, their daily evolutions, laboratory tests, and nursing records.

Post 4: A Time Travel to the Future

Topics about travel to the future are complicated for me, the same as traveling to the past because traveling in time creates paradoxes and generates problems, or is whatever the movies have shown, especially when they travel in the past, for example when anyone takes something or gives information, would change at present.

I remember that when I saw the Dark series, it showed a time machine and travels in time... for not tell to "spoilers", in history a woman was the daughter of her daughter.

Another paradox that TV shows are in the film "Back to the Future" when Marty travels to the past, his parents almost are not together, and he starts to vanish, but when they kissed, Marty does not vanish. But Marty backs to the future and things not as before.

Or in the anime “Doraemon”, when Nobita and Doraemon travel to the future or past, they generate changes in their present (it is the main motive that Doraemon exists).

I believe more in the plot of "Dragon Ball Z", which showed one traveler of the future, named Trunks who arrived on a time machine, in my opinion, the best character, strong and gorgeous... (ok, I get back to the topic) in this anime to the travels to future do not change the past because are different timelines. So, Trunks comes back to the future there are no changes, only he is more trained and stronger.

On other hand, I would like to travel to the past and only see the little Genesis and say that she has faith in herself and that every "mistakes" are for learning and obtaining experience.

Post 3: My Dream Job

I wondered forever "What kind of job would I like to have?". My answer was always "I would like to work  in the health area". When I studied biotechnology I didn't find work in the health area, so I preferred to study again but Chemistry and Pharmacy.

At present, I believe that I would like to work in the Clinical Area or Quality Assessment (as plan b). Anything of the two alternatives is fine with me.

In the Clinical Area I would like to study clinical cases of patients, and analyze their therapy. Since the clinical pharmacist manages the patient's medication therapy with other healthcare professionals. Also it develops and promotes the rational and appropriate use of medicinal products by applying principles of pharmacology, toxicology, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutics, through clinical and assistance intervention in patient care.

On the other hand, in Quality Assessment the pharmacist is responsible for assurance to ensuring that the medication being manufactured will provide the desired effect to the patient. Quality assurance also guarantees that there are no contaminants present and that the medications will meet quality requirements and all relevant regulations.

In the clinical area it is necessary to make an internship at the hospital for six months. Another alternative is to do a master's degree after obtaining a pharmacist degree. The Universidad de Chile has a degree program "Professional Specialist in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Care", and I would like to register in the future.

Furthermore, if I wanted to work in quality assessment, I would need to conduct my professional practice or thesis at a pharmacist company for I would in wish obtain experience.

The salary of the pharmacist is between 800.000 and 1.000.000 pesos, but I don’t know the exact amount.

Post 2: The Best Concert ever

I went to the "Pxndx" concert on 20 th May 2015 at Cariola Theater, Santiago Chile. That year it was the fifth anniversary of my relationship with my boyfriend and we went together. This was the first (and unique) concert that I have be to, and I liked this! I remember that I sang almost all of them. My favourite song was "procedimientos para llegar a un común acuerdo".

In this concert, they sang old and new songs, because in the year 2014 they released their album "Sangre Fría" and I didn't know the lyrics yet.

That afternoon I left my cell phone at home because the show was at 21:00 hours, and... in San Diego Street... I preferred not to risk myself, so I do not have pictures of the moment, only memories and my ticket (photo).

The funniest thing was that the vocalist "José Madero" unbuttoned his shirt, showed off his abs, and started doing push-ups. With my boyfriend, we said "He believes he is tasty" Jajaja. This comment was because in the past José was not a person that did this, He was fat in the past and his style was "emo" (emotional person and emotional hardcore/ hardcore punk). But we have a good time.

I have beautiful memories and I hope I do not forget them!

Post 1: A Country I would like to visit

I wish to travel to England, this is a beautiful Country. I want to know London. I would like to visit Big Ben, the beautiful tower, the big clock. I would like to get on London Eye and observe the river Thames, the houses, and the structures of the sector. Another place that I could want to visit is the Royal Palace, this is the Tower of London.

I would wish to visit the Madame Tussauds Museum and see the worldwide celebrities made of wax, I would like to go to see Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, and Lady Di figures.

Another place that would wish to know is the SEA LIFE London aquarium and go to see, Royal Botanic Garden, Westminster abbey and travel on the Big Bus London.

I do not speak English, but I would like to try to speak and know other people.

I would eat typical England food, for example, England breakfast with beans and sausages; Steak and ale pie; salad and Chocolate - orange torte (yum!).

English 3, Post 6, Choice of two topics

PubMed is the page that I will talk about, it is a database where you can find different articles with studies on any topic related to health. In it you can find current and also very old articles related to research. PubMed Central is a free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature at the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM).

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/

I visit the page when I have to carry out some research task, where I visit it frequently (such as Google scholar), and once I used it to write a thesis.

One of the main problems with this page is that for some articles you have to pay or pay a subscription (which is expensive if you need to download more than one article). That is why I enclose a second SCI-HUB web page created by the Russian scientist Alexandra Elbakyan, in it you can download it for free, placing the Digital Object Identifier (DOI), although I think it is not entirely legal... but for students and researchers without resources, it is very necessary, that's why I totally recommend them.

English 3, Post 5, 'How can your major make the world a better place'

Chemistry and pharmacy belong to the sciences of health. There are different areas, such as industrial, drug production, quality assurement, among others. But I like the clinical pharmacy area better. And why? Well, maybe it won't be able to change the world, but I can contribute to improving people's health ... All my life I have wanted to contribute to it.

The Clinical pharmacy is a specialty of the health sciences in which the chemical pharmacist develops and promotes the rational and appropriate use of medicinal products. On the other hand, the clinical pharmacist manages the medication therapy of the patient, with other health care professionals.

The clinical pharmacist participates daily in rounds and makes individual pharmaceutical visits in which he reviews and analyzes the source of patient information, for example, clinical records, their daily evolutions, laboratory tests, nursing records, and the establishment’s pharmacy service.

In the future I see myself working at a hospital, involving me in the observation and direct interaction with patients, collaborating in the optimization of the therapy supporting the wellness, the health, and disease prevention. As well, I would like to participate in research that contributes the advances in human health and quality of life.

The clinical pharmacist could help avoid many of the misadventures that occur after inappropriate therapeutic decisions are made at the time of prescribing.

Clinical pharmacists are a primary source of scientifically valid information and advice regarding the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medications. Additionally, they contribute to improved health and quality of life.

English 3, Post 4, 'Tell us about a photo (or image) that is meaningful to you'

I chose this photo because appears by the “Linkin Park” vocalist, Chester Bennington. This is my favourite rock/ nu-metal band and brings me back fond memories of the high school, as the first song that I heard was “In the end” in the year 2010 and this showed me, my boyfriend. I loved Chester’s voice and the mix with the Mike Shinoda raps, he is the second vocalist. I remember those summer afternoons in that I walked home for sunset.

This picture is important to me as it was the last photo he appears in, and it was taken days before he decided to commit suicide in 2017. His wife took this photo and posted it on Twitter along with a note: “This was days before my husband took his own life. Suicidal thoughts were there, but you did it. You never know”.

The day of his death was July 20, this day was the birthday of his friend Chris Cornell, who had also committed suicide two months earlier (May). The photo was highly commented and it can be seen that "depression has no face or form".
